Our vision consultation ran from 10 August - 22 October. A wide range of methods were used to engage with residents and stakeholders on our draft vision, priorities and key objectives including:
Online survey, ideas wall and 'tell us your story' what's it like living in the BCP area
Paper copies of the survey were available in libraries
Eleven drop in roadshows in town centres / supermarkets and CastlePoint at our universities and colleges.
A children and young people questionnaire and activity and competition was run.
Three stakeholder events for Town and Parish Councils, Community Voluntary Sector and Residents' Associations were held
We changed the vision statement from "Our vision - where nature, coast, communities and towns come together to create a healthy and sustainable environment" to "Our vision - where people, nature, coast and towns come together in sustainable, safe and healthy communities
There was wide spread agreement for our two priorities and the wording changed to read
Our place and environment Vibrant places, where people and nature flourish, with a thriving economy in a healthy, natural environment Our people and communities Everyone leads a fulfilled life, maximising opportunity for all
We received feedback that we had set too many ambitions and that some could be reworded and merged.
Below is the draft vision document that we sent out to consultation

We do hope that point 1 of your Place & Environment Key Objectives will include support for the development of the BMX track at Iford.
Bournemouth has been providing a free to ride facility for the community for the past 41 Years. Speak to many people born after 1970 in the local area and they will recall fun had at some point riding the track, getting exercise in a healthy environment.
It is a fantastic facility that greatly benefits the local community and the sport of BMX racing. But of course, the facility does require continued investment to maintain its... Continue reading
As a past sheriff and Mayor of Poole and an active member of Ten Society for Poole, I am very keen to see the heritage of our wonderful town preserved for future generations. This includes the civic heritage and the civic offices. I appreciate that the heritage is included in the vision document, but I don't feel that it has been used to good effect in Poole.
The amalgamation of the three towns into one council took place with little public consultation and has resulted in large changes to the civic life in Poole. The civic centre was quickly abandoned... Continue reading
I am becoming frustrated and concerned about increasing number of instances where we have had to move out of the way of e-scooters and bikes being ridden on the pavement. Each individual has very little consideration for the safety of others and makes little or no effort to slow down. There is either wilful ignorance or sheer arrogance shown by the entitled riders, who do not seem to care that using their privately owned contraptions on undesignated routes is both dangerous and against the law. This must stop before someone gets seriously hurt.
My cousin came over from Canada, she grew up in Bmth in the 50’s-70’s and was keen for me to take her into Bournemouth town centre and show her some of the old places where she used to go. I explained to her that Bournemouth had changed dramatically since 1970s. However I was hopeful that our trip into Bournemouth town centre would be a positive one. I haven’t been into Bournemouth town centre myself for several years, knowing that the dynamics have changed. But I was hopeful that the negativity I had heard had been exaggerated and our day would... Continue reading
, I have worked in Social care for over 30 years, working in day services, also setting up and running various cafes and outside catering projects offering work opportunities to people with learning disabilities, mental health, and physical disabilities. In 2019 I decided on a career change and set up my own business Art For All, my 1st group ran from The Bridge -Access Dorset, in all the years I have worked in social care this has been the only place I have seen true inclusivity and feel honoured to be able to run one of my groups there, Access... I was born in Poole and have witnessed huge changes over the past 66 years. There seems to have been no consideration to the aesthetics of public buildings which is crucial for mental health . Roads flood around blocked drains each time there is a downpour . If cages were installed to catch the leaves and emptied once a year there would be no flooding. A simple solution which Germany employs. I am a foster carer and the children have not been contacted by their social worker for 8 months. We tried emailing but no answer. This is appalling. Inordinate... Continue reading
Why is this whole cliff top offering free parking? Also bigger vehicles, such as camper vans, park side on, taking up 3 to 4 car spaces. It's about time these spaces were charged for
I cannot believe that cars are allowed to park, even double park on St Stephens Road when the Meeting hall for prayers by the Muslim community is in use. Mums pushing prams and walking with children in the road is extremely dangerous. These people should be made to park correctly
I've lived in Poole for 12 years now. I consider myself as a London refugee, as I fled London for a better life. I left a small London town that i lived in all my life. At one point was considered a suburb. Over a course if time it was absorbed by London. During this process employment went down, houses were built in any space the council could get there hands on and developed until there was no space left. Crime went through the roof. Big businesses left. But more importantly the local communities wasn't listened to and over time... Continue reading
On a daily basis I have to avoid E scooters and bicycles riding in most cases dangerously on the pavement. BCP needs to get a grip with the illegal riding of bicycles and E scooters on the pavement.
Introduce legislation to fine vehicles parking and obstructing the pavement. London can do it so why not BCP.
I have had reason to contact BCP on a number of occasions via email and not once have they had the decency to reply. Customer service seems to be lacking.
