Our vision consultation ran from 10 August - 22 October. A wide range of methods were used to engage with residents and stakeholders on our draft vision, priorities and key objectives including:
Online survey, ideas wall and 'tell us your story' what's it like living in the BCP area
Paper copies of the survey were available in libraries
Eleven drop in roadshows in town centres / supermarkets and CastlePoint at our universities and colleges.
A children and young people questionnaire and activity and competition was run.
Three stakeholder events for Town and Parish Councils, Community Voluntary Sector and Residents' Associations were held
We changed the vision statement from "Our vision - where nature, coast, communities and towns come together to create a healthy and sustainable environment" to "Our vision - where people, nature, coast and towns come together in sustainable, safe and healthy communities
There was wide spread agreement for our two priorities and the wording changed to read
Our place and environment Vibrant places, where people and nature flourish, with a thriving economy in a healthy, natural environment Our people and communities Everyone leads a fulfilled life, maximising opportunity for all
We received feedback that we had set too many ambitions and that some could be reworded and merged.
Below is the draft vision document that we sent out to consultation

Hi l have lived in Bournemouth since the 70's and have seen many changes, developments
and sadly a lot of decay to our town, shops, businesses and to our area.
When l first arrived we had a great shopping areas in Bournemouth, Boscombe, Southbourne and Holdenhurst Road and other major streets throughout the town.
The beach was a delight to visit both during the day and at night when you could walk or drive along Southbourne or from Boscombe Pier to Bournemouth Pier the lamposts with colourful images and flood lights to the cliffs. Since BCP decided to bulk the... Continue reading
I moved to a quiet inner road that since sat-navs has become hell-on-earth to live on thanks to 24/7 speeding, rat-run traffic. We campaigned for & got a point closure, but a spineless councillor running scared of losing his ward, voted to remove it. We are now back to traffic volumes that cause huge disturbance, increased danger to life, increased noise & air pollution, and a lower of quality of life. It affects us 24/7, but only inconveniences commuters for a minute or so a day.
Stop creating traffic bottle necks by removing lanes to add a few metres of... Continue reading
Having moved to the area 40 years ago. There has been a lot of change locally and nationally. I am not sure the merger of the 3 councils was a good idea. We see a lot of neglect in the area since this has happened. The BCP Council is in serious debt and beginning to cut costs. I think its a shambles that the place is so run down. Spend it on improvements. What happened to the cinema that was supposed to be happening in Poole. The Dolphin centre frontage is looking very tired. All the abandoned buildings opposite. The... The document that BCP have put out lacks any detail and is vague, to be honest.
I'd rather see a list of projects that the council along with investors have signed up to.
Examples for Poole would be to redevelop the bus station, for instance, and build a travel interchange where bus, rail and taxi are all on the same site and not spread about. Something attractive and modern as well!
Poole highstreet - some parts need levelling and starting again. Or create more open spaces as there's so many empty / derelict shops and buildings.

Have lived in somerford for ten years and Fairmile and burton for thirty five years before that at one time the grass was cut regularly and the weeds cleared now it is in a sorry state especially the allotments and the bushes in South Road it is so sad the estate has ended up like this
I have lived in Bournemouth for over 40 years and have witnessed a recent rapid decline in services, infrastructure and amenities. I see no evidence of vision from BCP and given financial issues cannot see how any significant improvements can be made.
Bournemouth town centre is a disgrace, which like Boscombe centre, is fast becoming a no go area for families after hours.
The whole area of BCP has become over developed with little thought being put into improving infrastructure. It is naive to think that a few cycle lanes will encourage people out of their cars. Invest that money... Continue reading
I love living here, but the area has deteriorated in the last 20 years. There used to be flowers and plants everywhere in the High Street. (I know they got vanderlised) places like Wimborne, Wareham and Upton can do and these areas look lovely. The litter bins, especially by the beaches are left to over flow. Perhaps. Visitors tax could be introduced a (as in other area e.g. Edinburgh etc also in cities of Mediterranean countries) so that people could be employed to keep bins emptied and streets swept. I enjoy all the beautiful country side where we can walk... Continue reading
I have lived in the area all my life and live an active lifestyle
I am so disappointed in the lack of joined up thinking and total lack of vision Some councils recognise for example the decline in golf participation and have rewilded some courses for the enjoyment of a greater number of peoples
this council has an abundance of town centre golf courses and could easily do something with Queen’s Park ( membership in the low hundred’s)
I suggest they visit other councils to see what has been done particularly Lewisham Who have created wild areas a swim lake... Continue reading
I love nature. I'm an extreme athlete, I kitesurf. Also, I'm a Sailor. So, the marine environment is very important to me.
I run on roads in dangerously overcrowded traffic instead of pavements as I run 15mph sometimes, it takes people/drivers by surprise.
"the benefits of exercise" British Kitesports Association.
So, I believe more can be done to support active travel on the roads and at sea. Also, the sky...
I love living in Bournemouth. I feel very lucky, fortunate and comfortable here. I've lived here 5 years now but I'd like to settle more permanently/securely
