Our vision consultation ran from 10 August - 22 October. A wide range of methods were used to engage with residents and stakeholders on our draft vision, priorities and key objectives including:
Online survey, ideas wall and 'tell us your story' what's it like living in the BCP area
Paper copies of the survey were available in libraries
Eleven drop in roadshows in town centres / supermarkets and CastlePoint at our universities and colleges.
A children and young people questionnaire and activity and competition was run.
Three stakeholder events for Town and Parish Councils, Community Voluntary Sector and Residents' Associations were held
We changed the vision statement from "Our vision - where nature, coast, communities and towns come together to create a healthy and sustainable environment" to "Our vision - where people, nature, coast and towns come together in sustainable, safe and healthy communities
There was wide spread agreement for our two priorities and the wording changed to read
Our place and environment Vibrant places, where people and nature flourish, with a thriving economy in a healthy, natural environment Our people and communities Everyone leads a fulfilled life, maximising opportunity for all
We received feedback that we had set too many ambitions and that some could be reworded and merged.
Below is the draft vision document that we sent out to consultation

We have just relocated to Bournemouth for work… Bournemouth is beautiful and has endless potential but we were shocked after few recent burglaries in our neighbourhood including our own car burgled… people walking from the pub late at night shouting… couple of murder incidences and drunk people walking along the street in day light… and to see lots of houses and shops in such a pitty state!
Council needs to encourage businesses in high streets and increase safety/strict rules/??penalties re rubbish along the beaches to encourage better income!
Council needs to look after vulnerable in the community but also refine... Continue reading
I live in the Southbourne/Tuckton/Hengistbury Head area. Often go to Christchurch. It is a naturally beautiful place, full of young families and older people. The High Street in Xch is still busy. Life here is really good.Traffic is terrible thanks to 'improvements' to pedestrian crossings on Tuckton Roundabout and Iford Lane Roundabout. This has created localised environmental problems - the exact opposite of what the road planners intended.
Boscombe and Bournemouth are now pretty much no-go zones for my family though. A 20 year experiment in turning Bournemouth into a night time economy has failed badly, leading to the... Continue reading
So summer comes and our roads in Mudeford are crammed with all manner of vehicles. Why does Southbourne and Bournemouth have car/bike only parking near their beaches whilst we have campervans and trucks rock up and illegally park for days on roads nearer to the beach than many other areas in BCP.
We have had people using the little woods as toilets and they chuck their rubbish in regardless of being asked to take it with them. Calling BCP to check the roads is useless.
They arrive too late or not at all, the council need to resurface roads... Continue reading
I do wonder sometimes whether the council has the best interests of residents in mind with it's strategies. Growth of both the education sector and tourism have certainly ticked a growth box but what about quality of life?
As a Winton resident, I know all too well how disruptive the growth of student lets has been on day to day living. The noise, the rubbish, the squeeze on parking and even in some areas a total erosion of community as the students have outnumbered other residents on some streets. The university is a great asset but lacks of proper control... Continue reading
BCP area has gone downhill. The travellers that come down make our beaches so messy over the summer holidays. Recently heard dumping sewage on the sea which puts off people going in the sea.
If any town in BCP it needs to thrive of cleansing, appealing and more to do rather than choosing over coffee shops and restaurants needs more fun besides cinema.
I do not trust police no more especially around hate crime in the LGBT+ and LGBT with special needs...as need better understanding. As don't feel safe to go out if have to face transphobic remarks...
Bournemouth used to be a family seaside resort. There is nothing here now and the previous council let the town deteriorate. We need to encourage businesses in the town, support them etc. The town must appeal to families for the town to thrive. Relying on the airshow which is 1 weekend a year is a cop out!
The whole BCP area has really gone downhill lately, hardly a day goes by without a serious crime being committed. Bournemouth is not a safe place to be at all, some areas are a no go zone. The council need to prioritise safety rather than prosecuting people for PC non crimes.
I grew up in Poole, went to University and then lived in the midlands for several years before moving back to Poole. I'm a teacher in a local school and have two very young children.
I love living in Poole and feel incredibly lucky to live in a place that has such amazing natural resources on our doorstep.
We regularly walk into Poole via Poole Park and head to the Quay or drive to the beaches, Upton Country Park, etc. Our children love the newly improved play areas in Poole Park and UCP and they are always busy and really... Continue reading
I recently took part in the Beach Hut market at Avon beach. This was such a positive experience and brilliant as a small creative business to access local and tourist trade at the beach. I would love to have more of these opportunities along the seafront during the summer season. It worked well being near to the restaurant and cafe where the footfall was high. There was a very positive feedback from the public.
I was born and raised in Poole and Bournemouth. I remember when the area where Tower Park was an apple orchard
Poole and Bournemouth have deteriorated so much, there are so many weeds and rubbish in areas. Those who are doing community service why can’t they clear this up. It might then stop them committing a crime again. As far as I am concerned Bournemouth is a no go area. No decent shops, parking can be a nightmare. Poole high street seems to consist of charity shops. I know that they have to make money, but why so many. Broadstone... Continue reading
