Our vision consultation ran from 10 August - 22 October. A wide range of methods were used to engage with residents and stakeholders on our draft vision, priorities and key objectives including:
Online survey, ideas wall and 'tell us your story' what's it like living in the BCP area
Paper copies of the survey were available in libraries
Eleven drop in roadshows in town centres / supermarkets and CastlePoint at our universities and colleges.
A children and young people questionnaire and activity and competition was run.
Three stakeholder events for Town and Parish Councils, Community Voluntary Sector and Residents' Associations were held
We changed the vision statement from "Our vision - where nature, coast, communities and towns come together to create a healthy and sustainable environment" to "Our vision - where people, nature, coast and towns come together in sustainable, safe and healthy communities
There was wide spread agreement for our two priorities and the wording changed to read
Our place and environment Vibrant places, where people and nature flourish, with a thriving economy in a healthy, natural environment Our people and communities Everyone leads a fulfilled life, maximising opportunity for all
We received feedback that we had set too many ambitions and that some could be reworded and merged.
Below is the draft vision document that we sent out to consultation

I am writing to you today to express my deep concern about the state of the Special Educational Needs (SEN) department in our borough. I have heard from countless parents and carers who are struggling to get the support their children need, and I am deeply worried that children are falling through the cracks.
The SEN department is understaffed and overworked, and it is simply not able to meet the needs of all the children who rely on it. This is having a devastating impact on children's education and wellbeing.
I have heard stories of children who are waiting months... Continue reading
I have lived in Poole for over 60 years, I am a council tenant. I am so disappointed to how tenant's are now treated. I have lived in the present property for 9 years and all the justified work that has needed to be done I have had to fight for over months. This includes subsidence, replastering unstable windows, no show workers, and aggressive phone calls. I did try the complaints procedure and even that was hard. I am now having more trouble with mould and damp, again not being listened to and no communication. When call the person you... Continue reading
Having lived and worked here in BCP for the past 40 years. I have noted that inclusion is just a word. Bournemouth is a transient Town and it's sense of community has been eroded over a number of decades. It has also mismanaged the taxpayers money and by doing so created apathy among it's residents.
However, that being said, I have CMT and I use a variety of disability aids and what I do know, personally is that little thought is given in planning access to public and private structures for social events and health facilities, to help retain my... Continue reading

have live in winton for 30 years .I spent 20 of those not driving car.The 1st 10 when I move down here I had young children and we walked or use the buses . There were lots of buses on where we need to go but no buses to different places like moor Valley County Park so we did not go. We walk to and from school enjoyed the parks on the way . And enjoyed walking around the area. Fast forward 10 years and I lost my sight .So buses and walking it was again.Bus go to sort of... Continue reading
I have lived in the Bournemouth area for over 40 years and been visiting all my life.
Bournemouth has no identity. From being a holiday location, many years ago, to a conference town, to hen and stag party venue, student central, to now which is a place to avoid. Homeless, drugs, street walkers pressurising anyone who dares to stop and so much crime. The soul has been sucked out of it.
Bournemouth needs to reinvent an identity with investment and not all financial, the right people with a true vision. It needs to be long term so to give people... Continue reading

How a community like Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole can make things better for all. I looked after my Mum & Dad for years after having to give up work myself due to physical disability & mental health problems. All Doctors will tell you to keep active for as long as you can, for many years Bournemouth was great for that with plenty of seating in the town, on the cliff top, along our beaches & in our parks. Elderly could exercise with frequent stops on the many seats to rest their weary legs, tired joint & to have a general... Continue reading
I think we might learn from Bournemouth’s history when thinking about the future of the BCP conurbation.
Bournemouth was once famed as a ‘convalescence’ town.
In the 19th century Bournemouth championed the newly fashionable activity of ‘sea-bathing’, for its perceived health benefits. Today the popularity of sea swimming in BCP has rocketed as evidence mounts of its positive impact on mental health and well-being.
My story, that’s a sad one for me… I no longer live in Poole but have a plethora of stories to tell about bullying, lack of understanding, greed, consistent control, complete lack of empathy and so it goes on. My life trying to do kind things in the BCP area has had a massive mental effect on me as a person. I can name names, and can back my history up with seriously defamatory problems I incurred. There was no freedom of information for me, just a lack of looking further into the massive insurmountable problems that I was forced... Continue reading
