Our vision, priorities and objectives

This engagement is now closed

We all know that we live and work in a place brimming with potential. From Highcliffe to Hamworthy, Broadstone to Boscombe this is not one town or three – but somewhere that celebrates multiple identities, cultures and opportunities at the same time. It’s a place where people aspire to stay – as residents, visitors, students, or businesses.

And we also know that there are challenges ahead – from the cost-of-living crisis to the climate emergency. We will need to make some tough decisions to manage the pressures on our finances, and this work will help guide us towards delivering what residents see as significant .

We’ve set out a new vision, priorities and objectives that we think will help us realise that potential and navigate those challenges by building stable foundations and making positive change. We want to make sure people are at the heart of everything we do and we’d like to hear your thoughts on these proposals.

We will always need to deliver our statutory responsibilities, but we also know that there are some tough choices ahead. The cost-of-living crisis is affecting us all – not least the council. So your input and feedback into our vision, priorities and objectives is vital – it will help us focus our efforts in the areas you feel most strongly about.

Here is our draft vision document

How to take part

There are a number of ways you can take part and give us your views, we would like you to do as many as you are able to:

  • Our survey - use the survey to tell us your views on our draft vision, priorities and objectives, suggest changes and tell us anything that we have missed
  • Our ideas wall - use the ideas wall to tell us what you think we can do to achieve the objectives
  • Share your story - we are inviting you to tell us what it's like for you living in the area. Share with us what's great about living here but also what's not so great.
  • Come and see us in person at one of our roadshows
  • Complete a paper copy of the survey at any BCP Council library.

How we will use your feedback

Your feedback, ideas and suggestions will be used to inform our final vision and priorities document and we hope to present a final version to BCP Council Cabinet in December and to Full Council in January. The feedback you provide will also be useful in helping some of our thinking around our budget setting process for 2024/25.
