Strategic Transport Priorities Consultation

This consultation is now closed.

We ran a consultation to review our strategic transport priorities and sought the views of the public and key stakeholders to help us decide what type of schemes and clusters should be prioritised to have the greatest impact on the BCP area.

This valuable feedback will ensure that when funding becomes available for major scale transport schemes, we’re able to set out clear priorities shaped around what you’d like to see, which in turn will enable us to work more quickly and efficiently.

Have Your Say

We asked respondents to:

  • Read the information document before completing our online survey
  • Alternatively, they could download a paper copy of the survey and return it to us at the address below
  • They could also collect hard copies of the survey and information document from any of BCP's libraries.

We asked respondents to send completed paper copies of the survey to: Strategic Transport Priorities Consultation, BCP Council, Town Hall, Bourne Avenue, Bournemouth, BH2 6DY; or drop them into the 'Have Your Say' boxes in any of BCP's libraries.

The consultation closed at midnight on 31 October 2023. If respondents had any questions or needed the survey in a different format, they could email strategictransport@bcpcouncil.gov.uk.

Outcome

The outputs of the consultation has informed a council submission of priority strategic transport scheme proposals to the Western Gateway Strategic Transport Body (WGSTB) to help develop a Strategy Investment Plan (SIP), to support the objectives of the regional Strategic Transport Plan. The next steps are for the council to progress the development of Strategic Outline Business Cases (SOBC) for the priority strategic transport schemes included in the SIP so that the Council is well placed to bid for central government transport funding when future national/regional opportunities are announced by the Department for Transport (DfT) or other central government departments.
