Hengistbury Head Visitor Centre - Awareness Survey

Consultation has concluded

We asked visitors and non-users of Hengistbury Head Visitor Centre to complete our survey between Saturday 1 July and Saturday 30 September 2023.

The Hengistbury Head Visitor Centre was opened in 2014 to celebrate the Headland's archaeology, geology, and wildlife and to bring people closer to local heritage.

Hengistbury Head attracts over 1 million visitors yearly, and the Visitor Centre plays a vital role in informing people about the sensitive nature of the Headland and how we best can best look after it.

The centre has a compact exhibition space, showcasing over 12,500 years of human history and the site's different natural environments and endangered species. The Visitor Centre also features a multi-functional gallery space upstairs, a wildlife garden, a courtyard area and a gift shop.

We are applying for Accredited Museum status for the Visitor Centre, which will show that we meet nationally agreed standards of good practice. This survey will enable us to assess our current performance and to plan and develop our services.

The aims of the survey were to to find out who is and is not using our Visitor Centre and why, what those who visit it enjoy or think needs improving, and what we can do to encourage more people to use it.

Thank you to all of you who completed the survey to tell us your views. We will post the results on this webpage as soon as they are avaiable.
