Sandbanks Sand Dunes Consultation

This consultation is now closed. All feedback is currently being considered to help inform the Sandbanks Dune Management Plan.

We asked for people's views on the proposed management approach for the sand dunes at Sandbanks.

Sandbanks is host to a system of sand dunes which provide a natural form of protection against coastal erosion. Dunes are part of the area's character and play an important role creating habitat for rare and protected species. Prior engagement with key stakeholders and the general public identified the main challenges being faced on the sand dunes and helped us to develop proposals for the effective management of these going forward.

The map below shows a summary of what we proposed and the areas that could be affected. Full details of he proposals were outlined in the information document below.

After reading the information document, respondents could give us their feedback by completing the online survey. They could also collect paper copies from their local library or download them on this page.

This consultation closed at 23:59pm on 29 March 2026.

If respondents had any questions or needed the survey in a different format, they could email coastal@bcpcouncil.gov.uk or refer to the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) at the end of the information document.
