Why are you doing these surveys?

Under the Domestic Abuse Act 2021, local authorities have a duty to protect victims of domestic abuse and their children. This duty requires local authorities to work together to assess and respond to the needs of victims and their children, regardless of where they are located. We are engaging with victims/survivors of domestic abuse, now and/or in the past, to gain valuable insights into their ‘lived experiences’ and needs. By understanding these experiences, we can work to ensure victims/survivors of all genders receive the support and services they need to heal and recover.

How will you make sure my responses are confidential?

The survey data is hosted by Snap Surveys on behalf of BCP Council. The data is stored securely as specified in the Snap Surveys privacy policy. All information you provide is treated in confidence and in accordance with Data Protection legislation. The information will be used for statistical and monitoring purposes. It will not be used to identify individuals, apart from those instances where you give us consent to contact you using the personal details you have provided us with. You can find out more about how the Research and Consultation team use and store your data in our privacy policy.

Why are you asking people who haven’t experienced Domestic Abuse to take part?

Residents who haven’t experienced domestic abuse are also being asked to take part in a separate survey, to make sure a comprehensive review of domestic abuse is considered.

    Why bother with a survey?

As a local authority we really value the views and opinions of our residents. They are the keystone of our decision-making processes and although not every idea can be taken forward, we aim to react and respond to the feedback received as much as possible. It’s especially relevant for a consultation such as this one where we need to hear from residents who have experienced domestic abuse, so we can improve our services that you may have accessed in the past or need to access in the future.
